The Pentaho Community, of which e-Setorial is a part, has been gathering since 2008 to share experiences with the goal of strengthening the group. After all, we need to deliver excellent work to be recognized as strong and capable of achieving great things with Open Source development. And there is nothing like a good exchange of ideas and knowledge to gain insights.

Last weekend, on May 15 and 16, we were in Curitiba (PR) to participate in Pentaho Day 2015. Technology professionals came from various regions of Brazil and around the world. An average of 500 participants made this the largest Pentaho Day in the event's history.

The organization was something that caught our attention right from the start: from the reminder emails before the event, the registration divided alphabetically, the division of sessions by beginner/advanced, to the structure of the auditoriums and classrooms at Universidade Positivo.

Leonardo Matt (Assespro-Paraná), Lincoln Paulo Martins Moreira (Sucesu-Pr), Marcio Junior Vieira (Ambiente Livre Tecnologia), Christian Capelini (Universidade Positivo), and Pedro Alves (Pentaho) opened the event with a brief introduction before the sessions officially began. Names like Caio Moreno, Marcio Junior Vieira, and Marcello Pontes were responsible for delivering content to the participants through lectures, mini-courses, and case study presentations.

Specific topics were covered: Pentaho Data Integration, Data Modeling, CGG & Pentaho Reports, Ctools Dashboards, plug-ins, Amazon Redshift, among others. The inner workings of complementary technologies were also briefly touched upon.

In addition, networking was facilitated at various moments, both during coffee breaks and during the social dinner at the end of the first day of the event.

And apparently, we weren't the only ones excited.

The unity of the group is visible. We have a common goal: before being competitors, we are responsible for strengthening the Pentaho and Open Source Community. Gatherings like this are very important, going beyond just knowledge sharing: networking and exchanging ideas can be the gateway to great innovations, both for businesses and society.
