We will only know exactly what to expect from the next iPhone when Apple makes its official announcement. But KGI (Key Goal Indicator) Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has been right in the past, shared insights on his blog about the new version of the device.
Here are some topics about the new iPhone - which will likely be called iPhone 6s or iPhone 7:
- Kuo believes Apple will use some design lessons from the Apple Watch. The aluminum used is 60% more durable than that of the iPhone 6.
- Apple may adopt more color options. Kuo predicts there could be a metallic pink option, following a strong trend announced in a report by The Wall Street Journal published earlier this year. Additionally, the current gold option might undergo some changes to become a bit more yellowish, and the gray option, darker.
- The next iPhone will be slightly wider and taller, about 0.15 millimeters compared to the iPhone 6, Kuo says. He also suspects the new device will be 0.2 millimeters thicker.
- Apple is expected to upgrade its camera of 8 to 12 megapixels.
- The biggest change will be the expected Force Touch Display, Kuo says. This is Apple's new technology, which debuted with the Apple Watch. Instead of just detecting your touch, the display will also sense how hard you are pressing. We can expect interesting new use cases for this new device.
Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone in September, around the same time iOS 9 should be released. These features are just predictions for now, but Kuo is known for being very accurate with his guesses. He got several details right about the iPhone 5, 5s, and 5c long before they were officially launched.
