Data Migration

Switch systems without losing — or polluting — your history. Years of practice and published articles in the field: migration is a craft, not an adventure.

The most dangerous moment in a data point's life

Migration is where companies lose history, duplicate customers and corrupt balances — and almost always find out too late. The new system is beautiful, but the data that went into it came in crooked. A botched migration condemns the new system before its first day of use.

Our methodology

Serious migration is a project with phases: discovery (what exists and what it means — this is where Data Administration shines), mapping (field-by-field source-to-target, with explicit transformation rules), cleansing (deduplication and correction BEFORE migrating, never after), rehearsals (you migrate for real, several times, in a staging environment) and validation (counts, sums and samples that prove nothing was lost — with a report you can audit).

We've migrated data across ERPs, CRMs, Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL/MySQL databases, historical spreadsheets and custom-built systems. Every project reinforced the same lesson: the secret is not the tool, it's the method — a method that became a cover story in SQL Magazine, Brazil's leading database publication, and continued across two more issues with a complete BI project built on top of the migrated database.

When to call us

Ideally BEFORE you sign the new system's contract — migration costs belong in the switching budget. But we also rescue migrations that have already gone wrong: we rebuild the mapping, find what was lost, and finish the job.

What you get

  • Complete discovery and field-by-field source-to-target mapping
  • Cleansing and deduplication at the source, before the load
  • Migration rehearsals in staging until the run is airtight
  • Auditable validation report: counts, sums and samples
  • A planned cutover window with a documented plan B (rollback)
  • History preserved — no abandoning years of data in the old system
